While John has lived for most of his life in Wellington, he hails from Glasgow in Scotland, but has also lived and worked at various times in New Plymouth, Auckland, and Guam. After working in construction management, John completed his law degree from Victoria University in 1996 as what was then known as a “mature student”, the only criteria for which was to be over 25. John has experience in employment, family and trust law, as well as civil litigation up to the Court of Appeal level. Married with two adult step-sons, John enjoys snooker, single malts and holidays to the Pacific Islands (Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Tahiti, and Samoa at last count).
